Gold! An experiment in studio photography

I am moving into a photography studio in Asheville's River Arts District on January 1st, and I could not be more excited. I took studio photography classes in college, and it was my favorite. So I've been dreaming of the day I could have my own studio for a long time.

"But Sarah, how did you take these images if you didn't have a studio?!" Well let me tell you...

I stapled some black suede to a bookcase in my living room and used one studio light to create some dramatic lighting. Luckily, I was able to work with an amazing model, Anna Montoya, and fantastic makeup artist, Danielle Southcott to bring my vision to life.

Danielle seemed to immediately understand the alien-tribal-princess look I was going for and had some amazing ideas of her own that she brought to the design. In addition to being incredibly beautiful and a great model, Anna let us cover her in gold flakes and wore the (super uncomfortable) twig crown that I made.

If you like these, then stay tuned because I will be doing a lot more crazy and creative shoots in my new studio in 2016!
